Antique 19th Century Victorian Solid Silver "Cellini" pattern ewer, the pattern is so called in honor of Benvenuto Cellini, the sculptor and goldsmith of the 16th Century, considered the greatest of all time.
The jug is beautifully chased with the typical cellini decoration of masks, animals, strap-work and flutes, caryatid ornate scroll figural handle and hinged lid.
Hallmarked English silver (925 Standard), Sheffield, year 1894 (b), Maker's mark J.W.D (James Dixon & Sons, James Willis Dixon)
