DESCRIPTION
Antique 19th Century Victorian Solid Silver "Cellini" pattern ewer, the pattern is so called in honor of Benvenuto Cellini, the sculptor and goldsmith of the 16th Century, considered one of the greatest of all time.
The jug is beautifully chased with the typical cellini decoration of masks, animals, strap-work and flutes, caryatid ornate scroll figural handle and hinged lid. The jug is particularly large and heavy gauge.
Hallmarked English silver (925 Standard), London, year 1874 (t), Maker's mark S.S (Stephen Smith, King st, Covent Garden)
