19th Century Scottish Victorian Silver four piece tea and coffee set, consisting of tea pot, coffee pot, sugar bowl and cream jug. Each piece features a magnificent design, each body is profusely chased with scrolling foliage and flowers on a matted ground, particularly decorative and crisp, cartouches to each side engraved with initials, the two pots bearing a memorial inscription "Westward Coursing Meeting, Won by CLARET Janv 27 1845". Hallmarked Scottish silver (925), Edinburgh, the teapot and sugar bowl year 1840 (I), the coffee pot and milk jug year 1844 (n), three pieces bearing the Maker's mark "R.W" for Robb & Whittet.

Description
Antique 19th Century Scottish Victorian Solid Silver four piece tea and coffee set, consisting of tea pot, coffee pot, sugar bowl and cream jug. Each piece features a magnificent design, each body is profusely chased with scrolling foliage and flowers on a matted ground, particularly decorative and crisp, cartouches to each side engraved with initials, the two pots bearing a memorial inscription "Westward Coursing Meeting, Won by CLARET Janv 27 1845".
The jug and bowl are richly parcel gilt and mounted with a cast floral finial. The coffee pot still has has the original strainer (the fabric is a bit damaged, as expected). Each part is Hallmarked Scottish silver (925 Standard), Edinburgh, the teapot and sugar bowl year 1840 (I), the coffee pot and milk jug year 1844 (n), three pieces bearing the Maker's mark "R.W" (Robb & Whittet), the coffee pot bearing the mark "EDGAR" (unknown to me, but clearly part of the same set bearing the same date letter).
