Antique 18th Century Georgian extremely rare, impressive and magnificent Solid Silver ornamental cup and cover, very heavy gauge (3018 grams), campana shaped on a circular pedestal base, the part-fluted body is applied with exceptionally crisp and detailed ribbon-tied floral garlands, the matching cover in the same style is surmounted by a cast figural finial depicting a kneeling Moor. The body is applied with vine-cast handles.

Such large vases were the most fashionable interior design accessory of the late 18th Century; the silver cup and cover in form of vase was at the top end of the market fashion. This particular piece features an unusual design, very crisp and decorative.

Due to its very large size and impressive weight it can be used as a magnificent wine or champagne bottle cooler. Both parts are fully Hallmarked English silver (985 Britannia Standard, the finest English silver), London, year 1732 (R), Maker's mark "SA" (John Hugh Le Sage, one of the most important Huguenot silversmiths of the 18th Century, subordinate Goldsmith to the King).
