DESCRIPTION

Antique early-20th Century superb and complete “Flemish pattern” dinner service by Tiffany & Co. Made in the USA, this elegant pattern was first patented by the exclusive jewellers in 1911. The Flemish pattern was designed in 1911 and is a modification of the English Trifid End pattern of the eighteenth century. A gracefully simple design, Flemish is harmonious with both traditional and modern.

Realised in solid silver (92.5% pure), the service, each monogrammed BSY (Betty Scott Youree), comprising: 12 hollow knives; 12 hollow knives; 12 tablespoons; 12 forks (larger) ,12 forks (smaller); 12 teaspoons; 12 soup spoons. (84 pieces in total). Bettie Scott Youree was the eighth child and daughter of W. T. and Mary Rose Scott and the granddaughter of William Pickney Rose. Her father, W. T. Scott was a member of the 1861 Texas Secession Convention in Austin, Texas. Her brother, Buckner H. Scott, served in Co. B, 3rd Texas Infantry, C.S.A. She married Peter Youree, a prominent banker in Shreveport, June 24, 1870. Bettie was elected to serve as president of Shreveport Chapter No. 237, United Daughters of the Confederacy, in 1898 and served until 1900.

She was re-elected inn 1904 and served until 1926. She also served as president of the Louisiana Division, U.D.C. from 1912 until 1914., State Regent, Louisiana Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, founder of the first chapter of the Colonial Dames, and was a member of the Texas Daughters of the Republic. The Bettie Scott Youree Chapter of the Children of the Confederacy was named in her honour. It is rare to find such complete dinner services making for an elegant way to adorn any modern day dinner table.
