DESCRIPTION
A rare and superb Montblanc Limited Edition 4810 "Patron of Art" Fountain Pen, celebrating Alexander the Great, philosopher-king of the classical Golden Age, who greatly extended the Greek Empire.
The gold plated cap is shaped like a slender column, richly ornamentated with lotus flowers, forming an elegant contrast to the black laquer background. The finely marbled laquer of the barrel is embellished with gilt veins.
The 18 Karat Solid Gold nib is hand-engraved with the stylised head of a ram - the symbol of the god Amon - a reference to Alexander the Great, who was once declared by an oracle to be the son of Amon on earth.
The pen is in perfect condition, never used, it comes with the original outer box, polished wood display box and booklet. The model dates to 1998.
It is a Limited Edition number 2735 / 4810.
