DESCRIPTION

Antique mid-19th Century rare Chinese Solid Silver large box, of rectangular form, decorated in repousse' high relief, on very finely tooled matted ground, depicting various figures in a landscape, including dignitaries and attendants amongst palaces, pavilions and procession along the sides. The box is particularly large, heavy and very well crafted.

The base is hallmarked Chinese silver mark (acid tested shows 900+ standard), Maker's mark for Xiang He, active in Canton 1850-1900, for more information please see A.Von Ferscht, Chinese Export Silver 1785-1940, 4th edition 2015.
