ANTIQUE 19thC JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD GOLD LACQUER & SHIBAYAMA VASES c.1890

Antique late-19th Century Japanese Meiji period pair of very fine gold lacquered vases of cylindrical form, decorated with shibayama inlaid, each one decorated with scenes of Japanese immortals, inlaid with a birds and flowers, on a kinji ground with formal designs, the clothes with rinzu motifs and the neck decorated with a band of dark shaded clouds. Standing on solid silver bamboo legs and supported by bamboo leaves.
